Piestany is a sleepy spa town that sits between a flowing river and forest-covered mountains. This is where my family comes from. Whenever I visit, everyone calls it “naša malá Amerika” (our little America).

I started this project in the summer of 2022 with the goal of capturing the sights and sounds of my second home. I recorded hours of conversations, emotions, and moments between people and nature. I also interviewed members of my family asking them questions like “If there was one thing you wish you could remember, what would that be?”.

I’ve since continued to record new sights and sounds every time I return to Piestany. I’m not the type of artist who likes to rush things, especially when they deserve time to flourish. This will most likely be my longest and most important project to date.
